Dassam Falls |
Dassam Falls are a natural cascade that form the southern end of Kanchi River - a tributary of Subarnarekha River, which was once famed for hiding specks of gold in its riverbed. A source of hydroelectric power, the falls drop from a height of 144 feet while branching into 10 water streams - a sight to behold, especially after the rains. It makes for an easy day trip from Ranchi, which lies about 40 km away. The hiking trail originates near National Highway 33 and takes you through a few rural settlements before passing through forests that finally open up to views of the waterfall. You may want to trek to the falls on a full moon night when bright rays of silver make the waters dazzle.
